Sao Mai Braille (SMB) is a free rich-text editor and Braille translation software for Windows. SMB is created with the goal of providing a unified solution in the Braille conversion process for text, images, mathematics, and music. We hope that this additional tool will assist both blind users and transcribers in producing Braille materials more quickly, effectively, and at a lower cost.

Translate text into Braille with approximately 150 different language translation tables using LibLouis library.

Mathematics Support: Edit and display equations using the math editor or equation insert dialog; import/export LaTeX and MathML; read and write DOCX and HTML files with equations; provide speech and Braille output for equations; and browse equation details in navigation mode.
The MathCAT library is used to deliver speech and Braille functionality. It supports the following math Braille codes: ASCIIMath for German and Finnish, CMU, LaTeX, Nemeth, UEB, Swedish, and Vietnamese. For speech output, it supports rendering math equations in English, Finnish, Indonesian, Italian, Swedish, Vietnamese, and Traditional Chinese. -

SMB software uses our own Bung Sang engine, which supports many unique features and custom transcription options.
